Job Opportunity for Senior Rails Developer



Must be able to verbally defend FOSS philosophy, discuss contemporary conventional frameworks, and suggest technological solutions to social issues. Participation in local users groups and non-technical community groups a plus. Some Ruby on Rails training is available for an otherwise qualified candidate.

Ongoing training and some travel will both be required. Office will be in 'downtown' Portland. Short term or hourly contracts will be considered, but position will eventually be full-time only. Hours per week may vary (minimum 32 hours for full-time position), but regular business hours between 8 and 5 will be required.

We are now requesting portfolio URLs or descriptions, resumes, and pay range requirements. (According to techMaine, the average IT annual wage was around $54K in 2004.) Additional interests and business skills will assist our consideration.

Port Forty Nine has recently relocated from Philadelphia to Portland, Maine. Our client list is diverse, but our current focus is in the pharmaceutical industry. Over the next two years, we will continue to foster strong client relationships by delivering online applications that exceed expectations, and we will continue to develop a handful of our own applications. In three years, we will be recognized for our cutting edge technology that marries high-performance computing with distributed networks, particularly software agents that deliver material information in critical environments.
